The position of Maintenance Engineer at Courtyard offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic hotel environment, ensuring the physical infrastructure and equipment function at optimal levels. This role involves responding quickly and efficiently to guest repair requests, performing preventive maintenance tasks, and troubleshooting various mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. In this role, the Maintenance Engineer performs essential duties such as conducting routine inspections of tools, equipment, and machines, lubricating and cleaning as needed, and maintaining the maintenance inventory through requisition of parts and supplies. The engineer is also responsible for operating shut-off valves safely and following lockout/tagout protocols during maintenance activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations. Advanced troubleshooting capabilities are required to handle complex repairs on hotel property and equipment with minimal supervision, including electrical repairs, pump and motor replacements, plumbing issues, and HVAC system maintenance.

Communication is a critical aspect of this role; the Maintenance Engineer must interact professionally with guests to resolve issues promptly while maintaining a courteous and welcoming demeanor. They are also tasked with documenting daily activities and any problems encountered to ensure seamless information transfer between shifts. The position requires physical stamina for tasks such as lifting, moving heavy objects, bending, and climbing ladders, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This role does not carry supervisory responsibilities but offers the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall operational efficiency.

Preferred qualifications for this position include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, vocational or technical training, extensive experience in general maintenance or related fields, and at least two years of hotel engineering or maintenance experience. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Respond and attend to guest repair requests
  • Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues with little to no supervision
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment including cleaning and lubrication
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines
  • Carry equipment such as tools and radios
  • Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment
  • Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed
  • Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved programs
  • Read standard blueprints and electrical schematics concerning plumbing and HVAC
  • Perform highly complex repairs of physical property, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration, and pool heaters
  • Troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, plumbing systems, electrical equipment including lamps, air conditioners, HVAC, vacuum cleaners, and internet devices
  • Use Lockout/Tagout system before maintenance work
  • Display advanced knowledge of engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance and energy management
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems
  • Train and mentor other engineers
  • Perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities including readings and rounds
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures
  • Report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries
  • Complete safety training and certifications
  • Properly store flammable materials
  • Ensure clean and professional uniform and personal appearance
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
  • Protect company assets
