Job Description

The Sheraton Galleria, located at 4 Galleria Blvd, is a prestigious hotel recognized for its commitment to excellence in hospitality and guest service. As part of the globally renowned Sheraton brand, this establishment prides itself on offering luxurious accommodations, exceptional amenities, and a memorable guest experience. Situated in a vibrant area, the Sheraton Galleria attracts both business and leisure travelers seeking comfort and convenience. The hotel operates within the competitive hospitality industry, where maintaining high standards of facility management and guest services is paramount to its sustained success and reputation.

Currently, the Sheraton Galleria is seeking a skilled and dedicated Chief Engineer to join its team on a full-time basis. This pivotal role carries the responsibility for comprehensive maintenance and operational oversight of the hotel's entire physical plant. The Chief Engineer will manage mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and all related equipment in line with energy conservation and preventive maintenance objectives. The position ensures that guest areas remain attractive and fully functional, upholding the high standards expected from a Sheraton property.

This role is essential to sustaining the infrastructure's reliability and safety, directly impacting guest satisfaction and operational efficiency. The Chief Engineer will oversee all rehabilitation, expansion, and special projects, ensuring timely and budget-conscious execution. The position demands technical expertise, leadership skills, and a proactive approach to maintenance and problem-solving. In addition to technical duties, the Chief Engineer will supervise engineering staff, ensuring proper training and adherence to hotel policies and safety regulations. The role requires flexibility, as it may involve long hours and the management of emergency situations such as fires, power failures, or natural disasters.

Ideal candidates will have a solid background in engineering within a class A hotel environment or related industry, with a minimum of five years’ experience as a journey mechanic or engineer and at least two years in a supervisory capacity as an assistant or head chief engineer. A high school diploma combined with apprenticeship or advanced training recognized by industry standards is essential. Candidates must hold relevant licenses or permits, including EPA certification for refrigerants, and demonstrate a strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, building codes, and safety standards.

The Chief Engineer must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively manage teams and liaise with hotel management. The ability to translate complex technical information into understandable language and foster strong teamwork is critical. Candidates should have proficiency with computer software related to engineering functions and demonstrate the mental acuity to handle stressful situations, analyze problems, and develop practical solutions.

This position not only ensures the operational integrity of the hotel but also actively contributes to energy conservation initiatives and compliance with legal regulations such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). In addition to overseeing day-to-day maintenance, the Chief Engineer will assist in financial budgeting, vendor contract administration, and participate in profit and loss reviews, reinforcing the hotel's commitment to operational excellence and financial responsibility.

Joining the Sheraton Galleria as Chief Engineer offers a unique leadership opportunity within a prestigious hotel brand, where your technical expertise and management skills will directly impact guest satisfaction and facility performance. The role demands dedication, technical knowledge, and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
