With properties across the globe, IHG emphasizes hotel safety, guest comfort, and operational excellence to uphold its reputation as a top-tier hotel management company. The company fosters a dynamic work environment that empowers employees and encourages innovation and teamwork.
The role of Chief Engineer at IHG is vital to maintaining the operational integrity and safety of the hotel property. As a Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for managing all engineering and maintenance activities throughout the hotel, ensuring not only the safety and comfort of guests and team members but also delivering a seamless experience in all hotel facilities. This is a challenging leadership position where multitasking and technical skills are essential. You will oversee a team of maintenance professionals, providing direction, motivation, and training to ensure the highest standards of upkeep and functionality.
Key responsibilities include managing daily engineering tasks, planning and assigning work to ensure adequate staffing, and developing your team through coaching, feedback, and goal-setting. You will be accountable for maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory policies, ensuring a secure environment for everyone in the hotel. Effective communication and collaboration with outside contacts such as guests, regulatory agencies, and vendors will be part of your duties. Additionally, you will manage hotel security aspects to mitigate risks of theft or hazards.
This position also involves overseeing maintenance programs to guarantee that the hotel remains in optimal condition, contributing directly to guest satisfaction. The role requires specialized knowledge in various technical domains including plumbing, electrical systems, mechanical, and carpentry. Certifications like Level 3 EPA, HVAC and refrigeration, or licensed plumber credentials are highly valued. Experience in the hospitality industry is preferred as it equips you to better understand the nuances of hotel management and service.
The salary range for this Chief Engineer role is $73,360 to $85,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. The position is eligible for bonus pay and includes a comprehensive benefits package offering paid time off, medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k plan, and more for eligible employees. IHG encourages applicants who are passionate about their work and ready to contribute to the company's commitment to excellence, even if they don't meet every single criterion. This is a promising opportunity for a seasoned professional looking to advance their career in a global hospitality leader.
