Job Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit continuously during shifts
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and wet conditions
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crawl, and climb various surfaces
  • Hearing and visual acuity to detect emergency signs
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders up to 30 feet
  • Physical dexterity to grasp, lift and hold tools
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and walk significant distances within property
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 100 pounds
  • Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing and smiling

Job Qualifications

  • Five or more years of related experience in building management/engineering
  • Substantial and successful track record in profitable engineering management
  • Familiarity with hospitality industry practices preferred
  • Minimum of three years of managerial experience involving decision making, meeting deadlines, vendor contract negotiation, and large-scale project coordination
  • Ability to schedule, manage and delegate work effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Strong mathematical skills including budget preparation
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities
  • Knowledge of safety and emergency procedures
  • Commitment to company operating principles and philosophies

Job Duties

  • Direct all aspects of engineering operations including emergency programs, energy management, asset protection, preventive maintenance and repairs to equipment, structures, and grounds
  • Direct the engineering staff, accounting/budgeting, asset protection, inventory control and human resources
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, brand standards, and local, state, and national regulations
  • Conduct daily property inspections and identify maintenance issues
  • Coordinate with local and federal law enforcement, fire companies and insurance agencies to ensure safety
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs
  • Manage engineering budgets, business plans, and capital expenditures
  • Provide leadership and coaching to engineering team
  • Manage emergency preparedness through staff training, practice drills, and recordkeeping
  • Promote accident prevention programs to minimize liabilities
  • Communicate effectively with hotel departments and guests
  • Conduct disciplinary actions and performance evaluations
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and respond to guest complaints
  • Participate in hiring, training, and development of staff
  • Maintain open communication and employee relations
  • Prepare and submit necessary corporate, divisional, and governmental reports
  • Monitor costs and inventory management
  • Ensure all licenses, permits, contracts, and inspections are up to date
  • Handle special projects and additional duties as assigned
