Job Description
The American Red Cross is a leading humanitarian organization dedicated to helping people in need across the United States and around the world. With a vast network of volunteers and professionals, the American Red Cross delivers essential services such as disaster relief, blood donations, health and safety training, and support to military families. This organization is driven by its mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Known for its longstanding commitment to the community and impactful service, the American Red Cross represents the largest humanitarian network globally, reaching millions of lives annually through its comprehensive disaster response and preparedness initiatives.
The role of Regional Chief Development Officer offers a unique and influential opportunity to lead philanthropy efforts that significantly impact four major states: Missouri, Arkansas, southwest Illinois, and Eastern Kansas. This executive role is pivotal in shaping and executing a bold and visionary regional fundraising strategy that supports the organization's mission on a broad scale. The Regional Chief Development Officer is responsible for directing a high-performing team tasked with managing an extensive fundraising portfolio exceeding $14 million in annual giving, with growth aspirations. This leadership position balances strategic vision with hands-on execution, involving close collaboration with the Regional CEO, boards, volunteers, donors, and staff to promote and sustain the philanthropic momentum that fuels the American Red Cross mission. The role emphasizes the importance of cultivating meaningful corporate and individual partnerships, overseeing major gifts, and steering innovative fundraising strategies to diversify and expand the donor base continually.
This position demands disciplined leadership marked by confidence in crisis moments and steady guidance during periods of growth. The Regional Chief Development Officer acts as a trusted advisor and visible ambassador for the American Red Cross within the region, ensuring the rapid mobilization of resources in response to disasters and maintaining long-term community recovery efforts. Beyond financial goals, this role is about fostering a culture of excellence, stewardship, and impact where success is measured not only by dollars raised but also by lives touched and transformed. The role allows for a flexible work arrangement, primarily in-office/community-based, with occasional opportunities to work remotely one to two days per week. The comprehensive compensation package includes a competitive salary range of $150,000 to $170,000 annually, including a yearly incentive bonus, providing a rewarding career pathway in a mission-driven environment where your work truly makes a difference.
