The company is committed to upholding high standards of safety, customer service, and reliability, driven by a team that includes support staff and private fleet drivers. PTI’s role within Perdue Farms is vital, ensuring seamless logistics operations that support the broader objectives of Perdue Foods in delivering quality products to consumers.
At PTI, the driving force of success lies in its people. The company fosters an inclusive and supportive work environment that encourages every employee to contribute to shared goals. PTI promotes continuous growth and development opportunities, emphasizing work-life balance and employee well-being. This commitment translates into a thriving and motivated workforce equipped to meet the challenges of the transportation and logistics industry.
The Chick Delivery Driver position at PTI is an essential role positioned at the very start of the production cycle. This role is responsible for the safe and careful transport of broiler chicks to Perdue’s contract growers, ensuring timely delivery and excellent condition upon arrival. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong attention to animal welfare, a commitment to safe driving practices, and dependable service. This role directly supports the productive success of the company’s growers and operational excellence. Driven individuals who take pride in caring for animals while maintaining high safety and customer service standards will find this role rewarding.
This position offers a competitive base rate of $32.13 per hour with guaranteed minimum wage laws applied. Additional compensation includes a variable annual bonus based on performance and opportunities for overtime. PTI recognizes the importance of employee benefits and provides a robust package including medical and prescription coverage, a 401(k) plan with employer match following one year of service, critical illness and accident insurance, dental and vision coverage, life insurance options, short-term and long-term disability protection, flexible spending accounts, and paid time off. This comprehensive benefits package further underscores PTI’s commitment to supporting the health, financial security, and overall well-being of its employees.
The Chick Delivery Driver’s responsibilities extend to preparing transport vehicles to receive up to 115,200 newly hatched broiler chicks, ensuring that environmental specifications such as temperature and airflow are maintained during transport. Drivers navigate safe, efficient routes to contract farms, focusing on delivering chicks as quickly and safely as possible. Routine minor maintenance and sanitation of vehicles are part of this role, alongside monitoring and reporting farm conditions during delivery. Drivers are also required to maintain compliance with FMCSA safe driving regulations, including Hours of Service and Driver's Logs, ensuring regulatory adherence and promoting safety on the road.
Ideal candidates will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least two years of relevant experience. They must have a Class A Commercial Driver’s License, along with essential reading, writing, and math skills to manage trip documentation and communication. The role includes physical demands such as climbing trucks, operating manual transmission vehicles for extended periods, forklift operation, and working in environments with varying temperatures and humidity levels. Safety equipment and protective gear use is mandatory to meet workplace and occupational safety requirements.
