Job Description
Vallarta Supermarkets is a well-established grocery store chain known for its vibrant role in serving diverse communities, particularly emphasizing authentic Mexican foods and exceptional customer experiences. With locations primarily in California, Vallarta Supermarkets has distinguished itself not merely as a place to buy groceries, but as a cultural hub where high-quality and fresh products meet community traditions. The company fosters a supportive and festive environment where teamwork and customer service are paramount. Vallarta’s commitment to delivering both quality products and friendly service makes it a sought-after employer in the grocery retail industry.
The available role is for a Chicharronero, a specialist position within Vallarta Supermarkets that focuses on the preparation and cooking of chicharrones, carnitas, and other traditional Mexican dishes. This position plays a critical role in upholding the store’s culinary standards for consistency, quality, and safety. The Chicharronero works closely within a team setting to ensure ingredient preparation, cooking, and service are executed efficiently and respectfully. The position demands someone who takes pride in preparing authentic cuisine while maintaining a clean and safe workspace and providing excellent customer interaction in a fast-paced environment.
The job offers an hourly wage ranging from $18.20 to $20.60, reflecting the specialized skill and knowledge required for this culinary role. Vallarta Supermarkets values team members who show reliability, respect, and a passion for traditional Mexican foods. The position requires physical stamina due to the demanding nature of preparation and cooking tasks, including lifting sizable weights and working in hot kitchen conditions. This role not only demands technical culinary skills but also emphasizes strong interpersonal skills to enhance the customer experience.
In addition to fulfilling day-to-day cooking duties, the Chicharronero is also responsible for ingredient gathering, maintaining inventory communication with management, and ensuring compliance with Vallarta’s stringent food safety and sanitation standards. The job environment involves constant movement with standing and walking throughout the shift, plus frequent bending, lifting, and manipulation of materials that can weigh up to 75 pounds. Vallarta promotes a team-oriented atmosphere where employees support one another to deliver high-quality products and minimize disruption during busy periods.
Vallarta Supermarkets offers full-time team members comprehensive benefits that demonstrate the company’s commitment to employee well-being and long-term career growth. Benefits include a health medical plan with dental and vision coverage, a basic life and AD&D insurance policy, a 401(k) retirement savings plan, paid vacation time, and access to legal services. Both part-time and full-time employees are eligible for benefits such as paid sick time, premium pay for holidays, scholarship opportunities, and participation in a savings marketplace with credit union membership. Recognition programs celebrate employee milestones and encourage a positive workplace culture.
Joining Vallarta Supermarkets as a Chicharronero means becoming part of an organization that values cultural authenticity, employee development, and superior customer service. Whether seeking part-time or full-time employment, candidates who demonstrate a strong work ethic, passion for authentic food preparation, and the ability to work effectively within a team will find rewarding opportunities for growth and job satisfaction. The company’s supportive leadership and community focus create a dynamic workplace where every role, including the Chicharronero, contributes meaningfully to Vallarta Supermarkets’ ongoing success and reputation.
