The Chemical Mixing Operator role based in Grand Rapids, MI, functions within the production segment of H.B. Fuller. This position operates on a 12-night schedule (2-2-3 rotation) from 6 pm to 6:30 am, offering a competitive hourly wage of $24.50. Reporting directly to the Production Manager/Supervisor, this role is central to the operational efficiency of the production process. The operator handles the equipment and processes related to the preparation of raw materials, packaging, unloading, packing, and labeling in strict adherence to both legal and company policies. This role is vital to maintaining H.B. Fuller's high standards for product quality and safety through vigilant monitoring and operation of mixing and processing equipment.
The responsibilities extend to preparing correct quantities of raw materials and ensuring their timely movement to production areas, operating equipment as per established process instructions, monitoring ongoing processes to maintain desired run rates, and participating in initial product testing to meet specification standards. The operator must ensure precision in labeling and packaging fully in line with H.B. Fuller’s quality standards and legal requirements concerning Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS).
The incumbent must also maintain cleanliness and organization in their work area, reinforcing the company’s commitment to operational safety and efficiency. Flexibility to work shifts and to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods is part of this role's profile. Job Requirements
- Basic educational degree or high school diploma or general education diploma
- 1 year experience in industrial environment
- knowledge of common software programs (MS Office)
- ability to read and understand work orders, production process, safety regulations, and quality procedures and instructions
- availability to work in shifts

Job Duties
- Preparation of raw materials and packaging
- operating processing equipment in line with process instructions and procedures
- monitors equipment, keeping processes running at desired run rates
- complete the initial testing and release of products to ensure no deviations to specifications
- check labels and packaging material, ensure correct labeling following existing rules and instructions
- packaging the final products in accordance with instructions and HBF quality standards
- carry out all operations in compliance with expected quality standards and operating procedures, respecting all legal and company EHS rules
- responsible for housekeeping in his area of responsibility
- carry out any other duties requested from the Production Manager/Supervisor
