The position available at JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa is a full-time, non-management role within the food and beverage and culinary department. This role is crucial to the resort’s culinary operations, focusing on the preparation and cooking of food to meet the highest standards of quality and presentation. The job entails preparing ingredients by portioning, chopping, washing, peeling, and storing foods properly to ensure freshness and safety. The role requires proficiency in operating various kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers, alongside rigorous adherence to food preparation checklists and quality standards. In addition to cooking, the position involves monitoring food quality throughout the preparation process, serving food in appropriate portions and receptacles, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen and workstations. This position demands attention to detail, physical stamina to perform tasks that include standing for extended periods and lifting objects up to 25 pounds, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team to meet common goals. The successful candidate will also follow all safety and security protocols, report any maintenance or safety concerns, and uphold Marriott’s standards for professionalism in appearance and conduct.

This role is ideal for candidates with a high school diploma or GED equivalent and at least one year of related work experience in a similar culinary or food preparation environment.   • Ability to stand sit or walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift carry push or pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds

Job Duties

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking including portioning chopping and storing food
  • Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Weigh measure and mix ingredients

  • Set-up and break down work station
