The role of Sous Chef at Flik Hospitality Group is a dynamic and vital position within the Culinary Department of a facility. This position is focused on the successful operation and management of the culinary services, ensuring both the quality of food and the efficiency of service. The Sous Chef works closely under the guidance of the Executive Chef to manage cost controls and expenditures, develop and execute daily menus, and oversee food preparation and presentation. This role requires a hands-on approach in supervising hourly kitchen associates and contributing actively to the innovation of new menus and culinary programs. The Sous Chef is also responsible for assisting in the planning and execution of catering events, adding diversity and excitement to the culinary offerings.

The ideal candidate will have experience in kitchen management, institutional cooking, and batch cooking, bringing a comprehensive understanding of food trends, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation standards. Job Requirements

  • education to A.S. level or equivalent experience
  • experience in culinary or kitchen management
  • experience in catering preferred
  • knowledge of high volume foodservice operations
  • experience in institutional and batch cooking
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer systems
  • willingness to engage in client satisfaction activities
  • ServSafe certification preferable

Job Qualifications

  • some progressive culinary or kitchen management experience depending upon formal degree or training
  • catering experience a plus

  • comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, email and internet
  • willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs or activities
  • ServSafe certification highly desirable

Job Duties

  • assist the Executive Chef with managing cost controls and controlling expenditures for the account
  • assist the Executive Chef with planning and creating menus
  • produce and execute catering events
  • roll out new culinary programs in conjunction with company marketing and culinary team
  • supervise preparation and cooking of food items
  • develop daily menu items and their preparation and garnishment
  • manage and supervise hourly kitchen associates
