The Chef - Room position at Bally's Chicago Casino offers an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in the culinary operations of this prestigious establishment. This role is critical in ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of food quality and customer satisfaction. The Chef - Room will be responsible for coordinating activities and directing the training of kitchen staff including chefs, cooks, and other kitchen workers to deliver outstanding food preparation and presentation. This position involves hands-on leadership and oversight in meal production, from managing buffet layouts to cooking stations, with a sharp focus on quality control, financial management, and adherence to health regulations.
In addition to staff coordination, the Chef - Room works closely on menu planning, catering services, and daily specials, ensuring profitability and effective inventory management within corporate guidelines. Responsibilities include monitoring ordering processes, budgeting, profit and loss control, recipe standardization, new product evaluation, and payroll forecasting. Job Requirements
- must be 21 years of age or older
- three years culinary arts experience including prior management role
- experience in high-volume restaurant and catering environments
- ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal
- effective time management skills with minimum supervision
- ability to handle high production pace
- great attention to detail for operating standards
- open availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Job Qualifications
- must be 21 years of age or older
- three years culinary arts experience, including previous experience in a management role
- experience in a high-volume restaurant and catering operation environment
- experience supervising personnel
- ability to communicate effectively with guests, team members, and management in both written and verbal form
- must manage time effectively with minimum supervision
- ability to handle high pace production
- must possess and demonstrate great attention to detail in order to maintain unit's appearance and operating standards using good judgment
- must have open work availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Job Duties
- foster an environment that embodies Bally's Born to Entertain philosophy by creating a fun-filled, entertaining atmosphere
- enthusiastically promote Bally's customer-centric culture of offering superior guest service and actively building long-lasting guest relations
- coordinate training and oversee kitchen staff in meal production, preparation, and presentation from kitchen to floor including layout of buffets and cooking stations with responsibility for maintaining quality and quantity control
- maintain a clean and orderly kitchen to comply with all state and local health department regulations
- assist in planning menus, catering production, and daily specials while maintaining financial responsibility for the menu
- oversee inventory of food products and coordinate product ordering and receiving within corporate specifications
- oversee processes of ordering, inventory, budgeting, profit/loss control, production, and execution of all food areas
- administer the development of recipe standardization
- conduct personnel interviews and training development/procedures
- delegate and oversee all kitchen activities
- perform other duties as assigned
