Hampton University provides a supportive work environment with comprehensive benefits designed to promote employee well-being and career growth. The campus is located at 200 William R. Harvey Way, Hampton, VA, and encourages a culture that respects diversity, innovation, and community engagement.

The position of Chef/Quality Assurance Manager within Hampton University's Auxiliary Services is a full-time role with an annual salary range of $60,000 to $65,000. This important role focuses on delivering exceptional culinary services specifically tailored for the President and the First Family's daily meals. Beyond this, the professional serving in this capacity will be heavily involved in planning and executing all events hosted by the President's Office as well as other prominent gatherings on campus, ensuring that every detail from menu development to cost management is handled with the utmost precision and quality.

In addition to overseeing daily meals and special event catering, the Chef/Quality Assurance Manager collaborates closely with the contract food service company to maintain the upkeep and proper functioning of all food service venues and equipment. This includes coordinating with the Physical Plant department to manage maintenance requests and ensure food safety regulations and standards are consistently met. The role demands a strong commitment to compliance, including performing routine audits of all food venues to monitor and uphold health and safety standards. Any immediate risks to food safety must be addressed proactively and reported without delay.

This position also demands keen financial acumen as the manager will oversee food and beverage inventory controls, budget adherence, and cost analysis related to menu planning. Weekly and quarterly inventories are conducted to maintain operational efficiency and resource optimization. The successful candidate will be responsible for submitting detailed reports and audit results to the Assistant Director of Auxiliary Enterprises to facilitate continuous improvement in food service quality and safety.

As this role is vital for high-profile event success and daily hospitality services, it offers a dynamic and challenging work environment where leadership, culinary skills, and quality assurance expertise come together. The university values candidates who possess strong supervisory experience, certification in food safety, and the ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
