The community fosters a nurturing atmosphere where residents can enjoy personalized care, social activities, and nutritious dining options that cater to their specific dietary needs.
The role of the PRN Chef/Cook at Bethesda Senior Living Communities is an as-needed position designed to offer flexibility for candidates seeking a role that fits their schedules. This position is critical in ensuring the delivery of meals that are not only nutritious and flavorful but also professionally presented to meet the high standards of the community. The PRN Chef/Cook will support the dining needs of senior residents by preparing meals according to established recipes and menus, assisting with menu planning in collaboration with the Culinary Services Director, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and dining environment.
This role requires a passionate individual with excellent cooking and baking skills, who is knowledgeable about specific dietary restrictions common among geriatric populations, such as diabetic, low fat, salt free, and liquid diets. The successful candidate will be expected to perform a variety of tasks including meal preparation, kitchen setup and cleanup, maintaining proper food temperatures, and ensuring sanitary conditions are upheld in compliance with community policies.
Beyond meal preparation, the PRN Chef/Cook will also engage in presenting meals attractively, assisting with special meal planning, and contributing to a positive customer service environment by supporting residents, families, vendors, and guests. The position demands someone who can work independently, prioritize workload effectively especially in emergency situations, and maintain confidentiality of residents’ personal information. A professional appearance and demeanor that encourages a warm and nurturing dining atmosphere are essential.
Bethesda Senior Living Communities provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, vision, dental, and life insurance options for full-time employees, along with a health savings account with company match, flexible spending accounts, a company matching 403(b) plan, paid vacation, personal and sick leave, paid holidays, a paid volunteer program, and an employee assistance program. While this PRN role offers flexibility and valuable experience within a caring community setting, certain benefits may vary depending on employment status. This position offers an excellent opportunity for culinary professionals who want to make a meaningful impact in the lives of senior residents through high-quality food service.
