As a Chef at Compass Group USA, you will play a crucial role in ensuring client and customer satisfaction by providing top-notch culinary resources and support. This position offers the exciting opportunity for an energetic and entrepreneurial culinary professional to manage various operational aspects including scheduling, discipline, and hiring within the department. Beyond basic kitchen management, the Chef is involved in menu development, recipe creation, and procurement, working closely with the Executive Chef or Sous Chef to bring innovative dishes to life. The role also requires strong skills in food cost control, menu planning, and maintaining the highest food quality standards. Additionally, you will support the execution of catering events and lead new culinary program rollouts in coordination with marketing and the culinary team, ensuring that all initiatives align with the company’s quality and service brand. This position demands a hands-on approach, a passion for culinary excellence, and the ability to navigate complex food service operations including high volume batch cooking and catering. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 to 3 years of culinary management experience
  • hands-on chef experience
  • computer literacy including MS Office
  • ability to manage scheduling, discipline, and hiring
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to perform high volume batch cooking and complex food operations

Job Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of culinary management experience
  • experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, or related food service operations
  • hands-on chef experience
  • extensive catering experience preferred
  • high volume batch cooking and complex food service operations experience preferred
  • comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends focused on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • ServSafe Certification preferred
  • computer skills including knowledge of MS Office products like Excel
  • associate's degree in Culinary Arts preferred

Job Duties

  • provide frontline culinary resources and support
  • assist with food cost control, menu planning, purchasing, and ensure food quality guidelines are followed
  • assist with planning and creating menus
  • produce and execute catering events
  • roll out new culinary programs in conjunction with marketing and culinary team
  • assist with managing cost controls and control expenditures for the account
  • perform other duties as assigned
