We are currently looking for a skilled and passionate Chef to join our culinary team. This is an exempt, part-time position offering an hourly wage of $20.00, presenting an exciting opportunity for a culinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced and creative kitchen environment. In this role, the Chef will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations related to events and concessions hosted by the Lonestar Convention Center. The ideal candidate will bring a robust culinary background, creativity in menu creation, and leadership skills necessary to manage a kitchen team effectively. The Chef will plan, prepare, and execute menus tailored to customer preferences, dietary requirements, and budget limitations, ensuring every event is memorable and meets the highest culinary standards.

This role requires flexibility in scheduling, including working evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate event demands. As part of the responsibilities, the Chef will coordinate closely with event organizers to align menu offerings with client expectations while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen that complies with all food safety and sanitation regulations. Managing inventory, ordering supplies, and supervising kitchen staff will be crucial duties to ensure efficient food preparation and service. Furthermore, the Chef will be involved in menu development, recipe testing, and contributing to special event planning, offering ample opportunities for creativity and culinary innovation. Job Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience
  • proven experience as a chef in a professional kitchen setting, with a focus on catering or event services preferred
  • culinary degree or certification from an accredited culinary institute preferred
  • strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation methods, and flavor profiles
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • creative flair and passion for culinary innovation, with a keen eye for detail

Job Duties

  • Plan, prepare, and execute menus for weekly parties and concessions in accordance with customer preferences, dietary restrictions, and budget constraints
  • coordinate with event organizers to understand their needs and ensure that menu offerings meet their expectations
  • maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times
  • order and shop out ingredients and supplies necessary for each event, ensuring that inventory levels are sufficient to meet demand
