The role of Chef/Line Cook aboard Amtrak’s dining cars is integral to providing passengers with memorable culinary experiences during their journeys. The Chef/Line Cook must be skilled in efficient meal preparation, cooking, plating, and ensuring that all food items meet quality and safety standards, while also managing the handling, loading, unloading, and storage of food and service products. Attention to cleanliness is paramount, as the individual will be responsible for washing all utensils, pots, and pans and maintaining the cleanliness of the lower level of the car. This role demands dedication to FDA sanitation regulations and a customer-focused approach, aiming to deliver a superior dining experience consistent with Amtrak's high service standards.

This position offers competitive training pay starting at $21.00 per hour, with a raise to $29.27 per hour upon completion of training and opportunities for further increases as per the collective bargaining agreement. The role involves travel up to 100%, reflecting the dynamic and mobile nature of onboard dining service. Amtrak values its employees and offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k); rail pass privileges; wellness programs; and several financial and family support benefits. Candidates are required to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and comply with Department of Transportation safety regulations. Amtrak is unequivocally an equal opportunity employer that fosters an inclusive environment free from discrimination.
