Job Description
Fort Collins Rescue Mission (FCRM) is a compassionate and faith-driven organization dedicated to addressing the needs of the homeless and vulnerable populations in Northern Colorado. As a part of the Denver Rescue Mission, FCRM operates with a strong Christian mission, providing shelter, meals, and services aimed at promoting recovery and restoration within the community. The organization emphasizes respect, dignity, and supportive care through its programs, including its crucial kitchen operations that serve daily meals to those in need. FCRM is known for its commitment to upholding health, safety, and quality standards while fostering an environment of faith and service.
The role of Chef - Northern Colorado is pivotal within FCRM's facility kitchen operations. This position takes full responsibility for managing the kitchen and cafeteria activities, ensuring the efficient and sanitary preparation and service of meals to clients and guests. The Chef will oversee inventory management, including food purchasing and donation tracking, manage kitchen personnel, and uphold stringent health code standards. This is an hourly position with a salary range of $20.29 to $24.81 depending on qualifications and experience. The role offers an opportunity to serve in a meaningful capacity within a faith-based organization, leading a team dedicated to nourishing and protecting those less fortunate.
In this role, the Chef will not only handle the daily food service workload but also plan menus that maximize resource usage, especially donated goods, ensuring nutritious and appealing meal options. Leadership duties include supervising food service staff and volunteers, scheduling shifts, training personnel on hygiene and food safety standards, and maintaining kitchen equipment and storage. Additionally, the Chef will ensure compliance with USDA and Public Health regulations, maintain kitchen security, and support special event catering needs. The position requires adaptability, especially during holidays or staff absences, highlighting a collaborative approach to kitchen management.
Fort Collins Rescue Mission also values the holistic wellbeing of its employees, offering a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision plans, generous paid time off options, tuition reimbursement, and employer-paid insurance coverages. The Chef will work in an environment that prioritizes employee support and professional development, supported by faith-based values and a dedicated leadership team. This job offers a unique blend of culinary expertise, operational management, and service-oriented fulfillment, ideal for candidates who aspire to make a tangible difference within a community-focused and Christ-centered mission.
