The Chef Manager role at Belmont Village Senior Living is a hands-on culinary leadership position that combines meal preparation with strategic management responsibilities. The Chef Manager will frequently collaborate with both front-of-house and back-of-house teams to deliver a hospitality-oriented dining program that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of residents and guests. This includes overseeing food service compliance, ensuring consistency and quality in meal preparation, and creatively contributing to menu planning for special events.

This position requires selecting, training, and nurturing culinary talent in a state-of-the-art kitchen, fostering an environment of growth and learning for team members. Beyond the kitchen, the Chef Manager will build meaningful relationships with residents, providing an exceptional dining experience within a restaurant-style dining setting. By working closely with regional and corporate teams, the Chef Manager will help cultivate a positive culture of collaboration and excellence in dining and hospitality across the community.

The role demands a high level of organization and leadership, as the Chef Manager will be responsible for managing inventory and food ordering to minimize waste and control costs, ensuring budget adherence. They will also be instrumental in maintaining a safe and clean kitchen environment by training employees in safety protocols, food handling, and proper sanitation practices. Staffing responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, performance management, coaching, training, and delegating tasks among culinary staff to maintain smooth kitchen operations.

Candidates for this role should have a minimum of two years of kitchen managerial experience, coupled with at least five years of volume cooking experience. Formal culinary training through a degree or certificate program is required, alongside a ServSafe certification. Effective communication in English, both verbal and written, flexibility in scheduling, and proficiency with workplace technology such as Microsoft Office and POS systems are essential. The position requires consistent and reliable attendance to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the community’s dining services.
