Currently, Danbury Senior Living is seeking a dedicated and experienced Executive Chef to lead its dining services department. The Executive Chef plays a critical role in planning, organizing, and directing all dining service operations to ensure the delivery of delicious, nutritious meals that meet the diverse dietary needs of residents, including those requiring special diets as prescribed by physicians. This position requires a leader who can inspire and manage the culinary team while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and sanitation within the kitchen environment. The Executive Chef will oversee food preparation and presentation, standardize cooking methods, and create appealing food displays that enhance the dining experience. In addition to culinary responsibilities, this role involves administrative tasks such as completing reports, managing evaluations, and coordinating with other departments to ensure seamless service provision. The Executive Chef must also cultivate positive relationships within the community staff, delegate responsibilities appropriately, and maintain adherence to established policies and procedures. The role demands an individual with extensive fine dining experience across various venues, ideally supported by a culinary degree and proficiency in cost control, food management, and diet therapy in healthcare or senior living settings. Job Requirements

  • Culinary degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum five years supervisory experience in dietary or dining services
  • Extensive experience providing fine dining in various venues
  • Training or education in cost control food management or diet therapy
  • Ability to maintain clean safe and sanitary kitchen environment
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Effective coordination and communication abilities

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary degree from an accredited institution
  • Five years of dietary or dining service experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Experience in fine dining in a variety of venues
  • Training or education in cost control food management or diet therapy for healthcare residents
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Plan organize develop inspire and direct overall operation of dining services to assure delicious quality nutritional services are provided
  • Ensure dining services department is maintained clean safe and sanitary
  • Determine food presentation and create decorative food displays
  • Assist in planning regular and special diet menus as prescribed by attending physician
  • Perform administrative tasks including completing forms reports evaluations and studies
  • Coordinate dining services with other departments as necessary
  • Develop and maintain good working rapport with community staff to meet resident dining needs
  • Ensure adherence to established policies and procedures by staff residents and visitors
  • Delegate authority responsibility and accountability to department staff
  • Establish dining service production lines to assure meals are prepared on time
