Job Description

Sodexo is a global leader in quality of life services and is proud to announce an exciting opportunity at Bridgeport Hospital, located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Bridgeport Hospital is a 300-plus bed acute care hospital and an integral member of the Yale New Haven Health System, offering comprehensive healthcare services to the local community. The hospital is currently undergoing a major renovation of its retail dining space, which represents a significant investment in enhancing the dining experience for hospital employees, physicians, visitors, and guests alike. Sodexo, a company known for delivering world-class food service, catering, and facilities management solutions worldwide, is spearheading this transformation and is seeking a qualified Chef Manager to lead this culinary revolution.

This position offers the unique opportunity to build and shape the culinary operations from the ground up in a brand-new café and market set to open in the fall. The Chef Manager will oversee every aspect of the daily culinary and retail operations, ensuring a high standard of food quality, excellent guest service, and efficient management of resources. This role is ideal for culinary professionals passionate about fresh food, innovative retail dining concepts, and mentoring effective teams.

As the Chef Manager, you will lead a team of approximately eight frontline employees, managing the café, market, and the Starbucks "We Proudly Serve" coffee program. Your leadership will be instrumental in creating a vibrant, hospitable environment where exceptional food, safety, and superior guest experiences are prioritized. The role includes inventory control, labor and scheduling management, ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations, and partnering with hospital leadership and Sodexo management to continuously improve the retail dining experience. Strong use of POS systems and operational reporting tools will help monitor sales, inventory, and overall performance.

Sodexo values a culture of hospitality, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. The company believes in providing equal employment opportunities and fostering inclusive work environments that respect and value diversity. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with the candidate’s education, skills, and experience, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package. This role not only promises career growth and development but also the chance to be at the center of an exciting culinary transformation within a leading healthcare setting. If you are a driven culinary leader with a passion for food quality and guest satisfaction, this role at Bridgeport Hospital offers a rewarding professional journey with Sodexo’s renowned support and resources.
