Job Description
Sodexo is a global leader in food service and facilities management, committed to enhancing the quality of life for the individuals and communities it serves. With a longstanding reputation for excellence and innovation, Sodexo partners with institutions, corporations, healthcare organizations, and educational entities worldwide to deliver integrated services that exceed expectations. At its core, Sodexo prioritizes creating better daily experiences through dedicated service, sustainable practices, and fostering inclusive, supportive work environments. The company emphasizes diversity and inclusion, ensuring every employee's contributions are recognized and valued, and promoting wellbeing at every level of the organization.
Sodexo is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chef Manager to lead independent food service operations at Yale New Haven Health's Yale Psychiatric Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. This unique position involves overseeing all aspects of food service at a specialized behavioral health satellite location within a healthcare environment. The role demands a hands-on, autonomous leader who thrives on responsibility and is passionate about delivering exceptional food service that meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and patient satisfaction. As the on-site operational leader, the Chef Manager is responsible for managing daily patient meal services, food production, regulatory compliance, and supervising a team of unionized employees.
In this critical leadership role, the Chef Manager will report directly to senior leadership at Yale New Haven Health, acting as the primary operational contact for client leadership and healthcare partners. The position requires expertise in managing food service in healthcare settings, particularly behavioral health, which involves attention to specialized dietary requirements and ensuring food safety within a regulated environment. The ideal candidate is self-directed, exhibits excellent organizational and communication skills, and possesses strong problem-solving abilities to maintain efficient operations and foster a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.
This role includes responsibilities such as managing patient tray service, overseeing serving line operations, monitoring inventory and food costs, maintaining compliance with HACCP and sanitation standards, and leading employee engagement initiatives. The Chef Manager will cultivate a positive dining experience for patients and staff by promoting continuous improvement and ensuring consistent food quality, presentation, and dietary adherence. Leading a team of approximately 10 union employees, this position requires strong leadership and coaching skills to develop personnel and optimize performance.
Sodexo offers a fair and equitable compensation package tailored to the candidate's education, experience, and skills. Additionally, they provide a comprehensive benefits program including medical, dental, and vision care, 401(k) plans with matching contributions, paid time off, company holidays, career growth opportunities, and tuition reimbursement. This position represents an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated food service professional to advance their career in a rewarding healthcare environment where making a positive impact every day is a priority.
