This full-time opportunity is offered through Flik Independent School Dining, a division of Compass Group that has been a leader in private and independent school foodservice for over 40 years. Flik is renowned for its commitment to exceptional dining experiences crafted with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, sustainable agricultural practices, and innovative nutrition education programs that empower students to make healthy choices. The company values diversity, inclusion, and community development, emphasizing nourishing the whole person through great food and programming. At Forsyth Country Day School, the Chef role is critical in maintaining these high standards and supporting the school's mission through excellent food service.
The Chef position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $16.00 to $18.00 and is a full-time role working Monday through Friday, with hours varying depending on operational needs. This role requires a proactive and skilled professional to direct, coordinate, and evaluate assigned kitchen, food production, and food-service personnel. Responsibilities include supervising and participating in cooking and serving food, ensuring that all food handling, sanitation, and customer service standards are met consistently. The Chef will also oversee hourly kitchen associates, handling interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, performance reviews, and recommending disciplinary actions when necessary.
A key part of the role is to prepare high-quality food items efficiently according to standardized recipes to meet production, delivery, and service schedules. The Chef must ensure food presentation, quality, portion control, and serving temperatures meet established standards. Inventory management is also crucial, requiring the Chef to track food use and waste, requisition or purchase products, and inspect deliveries for quality and quantity. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils is essential to comply with health regulations and ensure food safety.
The Chef will contribute to menu and recipe development, helping to innovate and improve offerings that reflect the nutritional and taste standards of Flik Independent School Dining. This role is ideal for someone passionate about working in a school dining environment where the focus is on nourishing students and fostering a healthy and inclusive community. The position includes the provision of free meals, uniforms, and laundering services at select locations, enhancing the overall employee experience.
Associates at Forsyth Country Day School benefit from a comprehensive package that includes retirement plans, health and wellness programs, identity theft protection, pet insurance, and voluntary benefits such as critical illness and accident insurance. Full-time employees are eligible for medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, commuter benefits, employee assistance programs, and flexible spending accounts. Paid and unpaid time-off benefits are provided according to federal, state, and local laws.
Compass Group, the parent company, is committed to equal opportunity employment and fostering a supportive work environment free from discrimination.
