Job Description

Restaurant Associates, a part of Compass Group, is a leading dining and event catering provider renowned for serving some of the nation's most prestigious museums, performing arts centers, and corporate clients. Recognized for its commitment to excellence and employee satisfaction, Restaurant Associates proudly holds Glassdoor's Employee Choice Award for being one of the best places to work. Their Richmond, VA location at CoStar - 551 South 5th Street, is currently seeking a full-time Chef de Partie. This role operates during day-varying shifts from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with further scheduling details provided during the interview process. As an employer, Compass Group values diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity, offering a supportive work environment where employees can thrive and grow in their culinary careers.

The Chef de Partie position is an essential leadership role within the kitchen, responsible for directing, coordinating, and evaluating kitchen operations and food production. The position demands someone with at least two years of culinary experience, ideally in fine dining or private chef roles, who can deliver a sophisticated and high-quality food experience. The core responsibilities include preparing and presenting bespoke food offerings such as light bites and small plates designed for executive dining settings, where attention to detail and presentation are paramount. The Chef de Partie not only ensures food quality but also engages directly with executive guests, providing a warm and professional culinary hospitality experience. This includes explaining menu options and accommodating any dietary preferences with discretion and personalized attention.

In addition to food preparation, the Chef de Partie autonomously manages the evening speakeasy kitchen operation, which encompasses opening setup, inventory control, and closing sanitation procedures. This role requires discretion and confidentiality due to the private nature of the venue and the high-profile clientele it serves. The candidate is expected to maintain absolute confidentiality regarding guest identities and business matters, reflecting the professionalism and trust required in a VIP environment.

Beyond the bespoke culinary duties, the position involves supervising kitchen associates, coordinating food preparation and service schedules, ensuring proper sanitation and safety standards, inventory management, and helping develop recipes and menus. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational and leadership skills, with a polished and professional demeanor tailored to executive dining contexts. Valid local food handler or food manager certification is a must, alongside a proven history of maintaining confidentiality and delivering excellent customer service.

Restaurant Associates offers extensive benefits to its associates, including retirement plans, health and wellness programs, and various insurance options, all designed to support employee well-being and work-life balance. With a commitment to safety policies, including the mandatory use of protective gloves and slip-resistant shoes, they cultivate a secure and healthy work environment. Candidates interested in joining this distinguished culinary team can apply online or via text messaging, with additional employee referral incentives available. Joining Restaurant Associates means becoming part of an award-winning organization dedicated to culinary excellence and outstanding guest experiences.
