The Specialty Asian Chef role at Aramark is a pivotal culinary position responsible for supervising and executing authentic Asian dishes across a campus. This role requires a deep understanding of East Asian and Southeast Asian culinary traditions, with a strong emphasis on maintaining authenticity and quality. The Specialty Asian Chef is tasked with crafting and developing innovative recipes that respect traditional flavors while elevating dish presentation and taste. Beyond cooking, the chef will manage the Indian station and oversee kitchen operations such as ingredient sourcing, inventory management, and equipment maintenance. Leadership is a key component of this position, as the Specialty Asian Chef will train and supervise kitchen staff to ensure smooth, efficient operations and compliance with food safety regulations.
Collaboration with the Executive Chef and the broader culinary team is essential for menu design, planning special events, and accommodating diverse dietary needs. Emphasis is placed on consistent quality control, ensuring dishes maintain a harmonious balance of taste, flavor, and texture. Job Requirements
- proven experience as an Asian chef or cook preferably in a high volume establishment restaurant or hotel
- in-depth knowledge of Asian culinary traditions, spices, and cooking techniques
- strong creativity and ability to develop innovative recipes while staying true to traditional flavors
- excellent organizational skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- outstanding attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high culinary standards
- exceptional communication and leadership skills to effectively manage kitchen staff
- supervises and coordinates all related culinary activities
- estimates food consumption and requisition or purchase food
- selects and develops recipes and standardize production recipes to ensure consistent quality
- establishes presentation technique and quality standards, and plans and prices menus
- ensures proper equipment operation and maintenance and ensures proper safety and sanitation in the kitchen
- oversees special catering events and may also offer culinary instruction and or demonstrate culinary techniques
Job Qualifications
- 3 years experience heavily concentrated in authentic Asian cuisine
- 2-3 years of post-high school education preferably a culinary degree
- advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession
- experiential knowledge of management of people and problems
- verbal, reading, and written communication skills
Job Duties
- prepare and cook authentic Asian dishes with a focus on East Asian and Southeast Asian cuisine
- create and develop new recipes while ensuring authenticity and quality of traditional Asian cuisine
- maintain high standards of food preparation, presentation, and hygiene
