The role of Specialty Asian Chef at Aramark is a key culinary leadership position focusing on the preparation and supervision of authentic Asian cuisine with a specific emphasis on East Asian and Southeast Asian dishes. This position involves hands-on cooking as well as managerial responsibilities to ensure the highest quality food preparation standards and authentic taste experiences for campus dining services. The Specialty Asian Chef will be responsible for creating and developing new recipes that honor traditional Asian culinary practices while incorporating innovation to enhance menu offerings. In addition to cooking, the position requires managing the Indian station and overseeing kitchen operations including ingredient sourcing, inventory control, and proper maintenance of kitchen equipment.

The Specialty Asian Chef must maintain rigorous standards of food hygiene, presentation, and safety while leading and training kitchen staff. Collaboration with the Executive Chef and culinary teams is crucial for menu planning, designing special events, and catering to various dietary requirements. The chef is also tasked with implementing consistency in flavor, texture, and presentation through effective quality control measures. This role demands excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills to manage kitchen staff and ensure smooth operational flow in a fast-paced environment. Job Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Asian chef/cook preferably in a high volume establishment or restaurant or hotel
  • In-depth knowledge of Asian culinary traditions, spices, and cooking techniques
  • Strong creativity and ability to develop innovative recipes while staying true to traditional flavors
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high culinary standards
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills to effectively manage kitchen staff
  • Supervises/coordinates all related culinary activities
  • Estimates food consumption and requisition or purchase food
  • Selects and develops recipes and standardize production recipes to ensure consistent quality
  • Establishes presentation technique and quality standards and plans and prices menus
  • Ensures proper equipment operation/maintenance and ensures proper safety and sanitation in the kitchen
  • Oversees special catering events and may also offer culinary instruction or demonstrate culinary techniques

Job Qualifications

  • Requires at least 3 years experience heavily concentrated in authentic Asian cuisine
  • Requires at least 2-3 years of post-high school education preferably a culinary degree
  • Requires advanced knowledge of principles and practices within the food profession
  • Requires experiential knowledge of management of people and/or problems
  • Requires verbal, reading, and written communication skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook authentic Asian dishes with a focus on East Asian and Southeast Asian cuisine
  • Create and develop new recipes ensuring authenticity and quality
  • Maintain high standards of food preparation, presentation, and hygiene
  • Manage the Indian station and kitchen operations including ingredient sourcing, inventory control, and equipment maintenance
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff for smooth operations and adherence to food safety regulations
  • Collaborate with Executive Chef and Culinary team to design menus, plan special events, and cater to dietary requirements
  • Ensure consistent taste, flavor, and texture of dishes through quality control
  • Supervise and coordinate all culinary activities
  • Estimate food consumption and requisition or purchase food
  • Select, develop, and standardize recipes to ensure consistent quality
  • Establish presentation techniques, quality standards, and plan and price menus
