Job Description

Nami Nori is an innovative restaurant specializing in open-style sushi hand rolls, originally established in New York City. Recognized as the first restaurant to specialize in this unique style of sushi, Nami Nori has quickly gained popularity and acclaim, becoming a sought-after dining destination known for its creativity and quality. With Pharrell Williams, the multi-hyphenate artist and Virginia Beach native, as a partner and advisor, Nami Nori combines celebrity influence with authentic Japanese-inspired cuisine to bring exceptional hospitality experiences to its guests. The restaurant prides itself on sharing gracious hospitality with both guests and employees globally, ensuring a warm and welcoming environment that highlights the best of culinary innovation and care.

Nami Nori’s newest location in Atlantic Park, Virginia Beach, is now seeking a highly motivated Chef de Cuisine to join its dynamic team. This position is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing company that values quality, creativity, and superior service. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, passionate about food and hospitality, and confident in leading a team in a fast-paced setting. As the Chef de Cuisine, you will oversee all aspects of the Back of House operations, ensuring every dish meets the highest standards of quality and presentation while maintaining budgetary goals. This role demands a natural-born leader who is well-organized, quality-driven, and able to foster strong relationships with employees, guests, and vendors.

In this role, the Chef de Cuisine will be responsible not only for culinary excellence but also for developing and coaching staff, maintaining operational systems, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The successful candidate will oversee food preparation methods, portion control, inventory management, and labor cost management. Working closely with the corporate team, you will contribute to menu development and special promotions, helping to strengthen the restaurant’s brand and customer experience. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic kitchen environment, enjoys problem-solving, and is committed to creating joy and delight for guests and team members alike.

Joining Nami Nori means becoming part of a celebrated culinary concept with a strong reputation bolstered by mentions in The New York Times, Michelin Guide, and GQ. This is not just a job but a chance to grow professionally within a well-respected and expanding hospitality group that values its team’s contributions. The position offers a competitive environment where leadership skills, passion for hospitality, and attention to detail are rewarded with opportunities for professional advancement and meaningful engagement with a vibrant team. If you are a proactive leader ready to take on the challenge of guiding a high-performing culinary team at a popular restaurant known for its innovative sushi, then Nami Nori in Virginia Beach is the place for you.
