At Friends Homes, the commitment to excellence extends beyond resident care to creating a positive and inclusive workplace culture that supports and nurtures employee growth and well-being.
The Chef de Cuisine position at Friends Homes is a full-time role that plays a critical leadership part in maintaining the standards of culinary excellence within the community. The successful candidate will oversee all kitchen operations and be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food quality, consistency, sanitation, and culinary team performance. As the leader of the kitchen, the Chef de Cuisine will manage daily production schedules, inventory, and cost controls, all while cultivating a strong and motivated kitchen team to deliver outstanding dining experiences.
In addition to operational management, the Chef de Cuisine will engage in menu development, including seasonal menus and special offerings, ensuring that all culinary creations meet the community's high expectations for taste and presentation. This role requires close collaboration with front-of-house management to guarantee guest satisfaction and smooth dining service. The Chef de Cuisine will also handle vendor relationships, oversee ordering processes, and monitor labor productivity and food costs to meet budgetary goals.
Key responsibilities include staff supervision such as training, coaching, and performance evaluation, as well as ensuring compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations. Regular inspections of food preparation and storage areas are essential to maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment. The position also requires effective scheduling to maintain adequate staffing levels and participation in recruitment, onboarding, and retention initiatives for the culinary team.
This position is well suited for an experienced culinary professional with a minimum of three years in a supervisory or kitchen management role within a high-end culinary environment. Proficiency in menu costing, budgeting, and software applications like Microsoft Excel and Word are important to manage day-to-day operations efficiently. ServSafe certification and strong communication and documentation skills are essential, along with flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays.
At Friends Homes, the Chef de Cuisine not only leads culinary operations but becomes an integral part of a mission-driven community committed to enhancing the lives of older adults while nurturing a faith-based, team-oriented work culture. This role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact in an esteemed setting where food service excellence is deeply valued.
