Amira Choice of Roseville on Cleveland is a well-established senior living community dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care and comfort for its residents. Located conveniently near both Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN, this community offers a blend of 80 senior units with options for Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Care Suites. This particular role is for a Cook/Chef position within the Assisted Living team at Amira Choice Roseville Cleveland Senior Living. The focus of this role is to provide culinary services that meet the nutritional and quality standards necessary for senior residents. The Cook/Chef will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals using standardized recipes to ensure consistency, proper nutrition, and appealing presentation that encourages food consumption among residents. The position requires culinary skills aimed at supporting specialized diets, including texturized diets following the International Dysphagia Diet Standardization (IDDSI) standards. The role is well-suited for individuals who are passionate about delivering high-quality food services in a senior living community setting, understanding the unique dietary needs of elder residents.

The work schedule is flexible, featuring casual and on-call hours with shifts primarily during the day and early evenings. This flexibility offers an opportunity to balance work with personal commitments. The role is not only about cooking but also maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen environment, employing proper sanitation methods and adhering to health standards to create a safe and sanitary culinary space. Additionally, the Cook/Chef will occasionally supervise kitchen staff, take charge in the supervisor's absence, and communicate resident and guest feedback effectively. Job Requirements

  • Must be 18+ years old
  • 0 - 1 year experience
  • Food Handlers certification issued by an ANAB-CFP accredited food sanitation program within 90 days

Job Qualifications

  • Food Handlers certification issued by an ANAB-CFP accredited food sanitation program within 90 days
  • Vocational school technical training or associate degree in food service preferred
  • 1 - 3 years experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of basic Microsoft applications preferred
  • Food Protection Manager certification issued by an ANAB-CFP accredited program within 90 days preferred
  • Certified Food Protection Manager certificate (CFPM) issued by the State of Minnesota within 90 days preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook food items to specified temperatures, following standardized recipes to ensure consistent quality, nutritional value, and proper portioning
  • Weigh and measure ingredients per standardized recipes
  • Assemble meals and bakery items within designated time frames, complete daily preparation tasks accurately, and assist with special events
  • Proper knowledge and preparation of texturized diets utilizing International Dysphagia Diet Standardization (IDDSI) standards
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment by following proper cleaning schedules, using recommended equipment and chemicals, separating clean and dirty areas, and thoroughly scrubbing pots and pans as required
  • Demonstrates the ability to supervise kitchen staff, manage daily operations and customer service in the supervisor's absence, and effectively communicate resident and guest feedback on meal and service quality
