The role of Chef at Bally's is a pivotal position within the food service operations, responsible for directing kitchen staff and ensuring the production of superior culinary offerings. This role demands a high level of culinary expertise and a passion for food quality and guest satisfaction. The Chef will oversee the kitchen's day-to-day operations, including producing menus tailored to daily service needs and maintaining rigorous food production standards. This position requires effective staff management skills, including scheduling both kitchen and dishroom employees, handling hiring and supervision, and ensuring compliance with relevant food safety regulations such as Rhode Island’s food codes and HACCP laws. The Chef’s responsibilities also extend to inventory management, cost control, ordering supplies, and maintaining cleanliness standards throughout the kitchen and support areas. Communication with the front-of-house staff is essential to ensure a seamless guest experience, with the Chef playing a vital role in educating wait staff about menu items and ensuring operational security after hours. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of five years of experience in high-volume restaurant settings, preferably with a culinary degree, demonstrating a proven track record of producing high-quality food products. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 5 years’ experience in a chef role within a high-volume environment
  • culinary degree preferred
  • ability to schedule and manage kitchen and dishroom staff
  • knowledge of Rhode Island food safety codes and HACCP regulations
  • ability to manage inventory and order supplies
  • strong leadership and communication skills
  • ability to work in fast-paced, high noise environments
  • physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • must obtain appropriate Rhode Island mandated gaming licenses
  • Food Safe Certified

Job Duties

  • Schedule staff, both kitchen and dishroom
  • create daily specials menu
  • calculation of inventory requirements
  • oversee cleanliness of kitchen, refrigeration, dishroom and all other kitchen support areas
  • communication with front of house staff
  • ordering of all food and supplies needed, as well as costs
  • hiring, firing and supervision of necessary personnel
  • knowledge and compliance of all RI food codes and HACCP laws
  • ensure wait staff and kitchen staff fully understand all items for sale each day, while ensuring security of kitchen after hours
  • ensure all items leaving kitchen are charged for or brought to the Food Service General Kitchen Manager’s attention
  • responsible for kitchen and all support staff during all hours of operation
