Job Description

Holland Home is Michigan's leading nonprofit senior living and care organization, dedicated to excellence and compassion in everything we do. With a rich history of serving older adults, Holland Home offers a full continuum of services ranging from independent living to skilled nursing care. The organization is committed to providing residents with purpose, dignity, and personalized support tailored to their unique needs. Holland Home's various communities are thoughtfully designed to accommodate diverse lifestyles, promoting comfort, connection, and a strong sense of community. Beyond its commitment to residents, Holland Home is recognized as a meaningful and rewarding place to work, fostering a supportive and mission-driven environment where employees can grow, contribute, and make a genuine difference in the lives of others.

The role of Chef at Holland Home is full-time, requiring a 40-hour work week, primarily Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm with some variation. This position is integral to the heart of the kitchen and dining experience for residents and staff alike. As a Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food using standardized recipes that adhere to strict regulatory requirements. You will ensure that all food served meets the highest standards for temperature, quality, consistency, freshness, taste, and appearance. Your culinary skills will directly contribute to the comfort and care of residents, making a significant impact in their daily lives through the meals you prepare.

Your duties will include completing advanced meal prep to ensure timely service, checking and recording food temperatures, tasting dishes for quality control, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen. You will also label all food containers accurately and maintain essential logs related to temperature control, deliveries, and sanitation. A key part of the role is respecting and upholding resident rights in every aspect of daily food preparation and service. Holland Home offers competitive pay based on experience and a flexible benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance options. Additionally, employees benefit from a 403(b) retirement plan with employer match and benefit credits that increase with years of service, demonstrating the organization's commitment to rewarding long-term dedication and professional growth.

Joining Holland Home as a Chef means becoming part of a passionate team where your culinary expertise supports not only nutrition but also the overall wellbeing and quality of life of the residents. This position requires a commitment to food safety, interpersonal communication skills, the ability to work independently with proper direction, and a reliable attendance record. It is a role well-suited for someone who values precision, creativity, and contributing positively in a nonprofit setting dedicated to senior care.
