Job Description
Holland Home is Michigan's leading nonprofit senior living and care organization, dedicated to excellence and compassion in everything it does. Established to support older adults, Holland Home offers a comprehensive continuum of services that range from independent living to skilled nursing care. Their communities are thoughtfully designed to cater to the diverse lifestyles of seniors, ensuring a comfortable and supportive atmosphere that fosters connection, dignity, and purpose. By striving to improve the quality of life for residents, Holland Home stands out as a beacon of compassionate care and community engagement in the senior living sector. The organization is not only known for its exceptional residential options but also for its commitment to providing meaningful employment opportunities within a mission-driven environment where employees can truly make a difference.
The role of Chef at Holland Home is a full-time position that involves working 40 hours per week, with a typical schedule from Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, allowing some variation. The Chef is a critical member of the kitchen team, responsible for the preparation and cooking of meals for both residents and staff. Using standardized recipes and adhering strictly to regulatory requirements, the Chef ensures that all food served meets high standards of safety, quality, temperature, freshness, taste, consistency, and presentation. This position demands creativity, precision, and a genuine passion for culinary excellence, as the preparation of food directly contributes to the comfort and well-being of Holland Home's community.
In this role, the Chef completes advanced preparation tasks essential for smooth meal service, closely monitors and records food temperatures, and conducts taste checks to uphold quality standards. Cleanliness and sanitation are paramount, so the Chef ensures that all preparation areas and equipment are properly cleaned after use and that food containers are labeled accurately with date, time, and item description. Additionally, maintaining required logs related to temperature, delivery, and sanitation is a key duty. Respecting and upholding the rights and dignity of residents in daily practices is a foundational element of this position, reflecting Holland Home’s core values.
Holland Home offers competitive pay reflective of experience and a flexible benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance. Employees benefit from a service-based benefit credit and a 403(b) retirement plan with employer match, which supports long-term financial wellness. The organization values employees’ professional and personal development, creating an environment where culinary professionals can grow while making a valuable impact on the lives of seniors. This Chef role is ideal for individuals with some cooking experience who are looking to contribute their skills in a meaningful setting that emphasizes care, respect, and community involvement.
