Founded in 1901, Nordstrom has grown into a renowned upscale department store chain recognized for offering premium apparel, accessories, and home furnishings. With a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and employee development, Nordstrom fosters a collaborative and dynamic work environment where talent can thrive. The company prioritizes innovation in retail, blending traditional department store shopping with modern e-commerce to deliver an outstanding customer experience. Nordstrom values diversity, inclusion, and community involvement, making it a respected employer in the retail industry.
This opportunity is for a Chef position within Nordstrom's esteemed restaurant team. The role uniquely blends culinary expertise with leadership and business acumen. As a Chef, you will be instrumental in delivering exceptional dining experiences by combining your passion for quality food with artistic presentation. You will lead kitchen operations by cooking recipes from scratch and preparing appealing weekly specials that align with the restaurant’s standards. This position involves overseeing and nurturing the kitchen staff, fostering motivation, development, and adherence to company policies and goals. Emphasis is placed on maintaining a clean, organized kitchen environment that consistently meets rigorous cleanliness standards, such as passing the white glove test.
In this role, you will undergo a comprehensive Manager in Training program designed to equip you with an in-depth understanding of culinary operations and management principles specific to kitchen success. You will be expected to thrive in a fast-paced atmosphere, managing both the day-to-day functions of the kitchen as well as strategic priorities like efficiency, profitability, and compliance with company procedures. The ideal candidate will bring more than two years of experience managing a full-service, upscale restaurant kitchen and exhibit strong communication skills alongside basic accounting knowledge. A valid food handler’s card is required where local or state law mandates it.
Nordstrom offers a competitive salary ranging from $55,500 to $89,000 annually, with potential performance-based incentives or bonuses available. Employees also benefit from a $250 sign-on bonus after 30 days of employment. Beyond compensation, Nordstrom’s benefits package supports employee well-being and work-life balance, featuring medical, vision, dental, life and disability insurance options, 401k retirement plans, paid time off accrual, holidays, merchandise discounts, and employee assistance programs. This role may require a flexible schedule, reflecting the dynamic nature of restaurant operations. Nordstrom demonstrates a strong commitment to equal opportunity employment and provides accommodations for applicants with disabilities. Join Nordstrom and contribute to a distinguished culinary team dedicated to outstanding service and continued growth in the restaurant industry.
