Job Description

Nordstrom, Inc. is a leading luxury department store chain in the United States known for its commitment to quality, exceptional customer service, and a premium shopping experience. Founded in 1901, Nordstrom has grown to become a trusted name in retail, offering a wide range of high-end fashion apparel, shoes, accessories, and beauty products. The company values its employees, viewing them as the most important asset, and is dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive work environment that fosters growth, development, and opportunity. Nordstrom operates with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction, innovation, and community involvement, consistently maintaining a reputation for excellence in the retail industry.

As a Chef on the Restaurant team at Nordstrom, you will be stepping into a dynamic role that combines culinary expertise with leadership and business acumen. This full-time position offers an attractive salary range of $55,500 to $89,000 annually, along with a $250 sign-on bonus payable after 30 days of employment. In this role, you are not only expected to bring culinary artistry and creativity to the kitchen but also lead the kitchen operations to ensure efficiency, high quality, and a seamless dining experience for guests.

The Chef position involves completing an in-depth Manager in Training program that equips you with the skills and knowledge required to manage a successful kitchen. You will lead a dedicated kitchen crew in preparing scratch-cooked recipes, including classic menu offerings and weekly special dishes that highlight seasonal ingredients and innovative flavors. A key part of your responsibility will be training, motivating, and developing the kitchen staff, ensuring that they adhere to company standards and procedures while contributing to the overall business goals such as process improvements, growth, efficiency, profitability, and compliance.

Maintaining impeccable cleanliness and organization in the kitchen is critical, as the environment must always be ready to pass the rigorous white glove test that reflects Nordstrom’s commitment to excellence in all aspects of its operation. As a chef at Nordstrom, you will thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, embracing a flexible schedule to meet the demands of a bustling upscale restaurant setting.

Nordstrom values culinary professionals who have a proven track record with at least two years of experience in full-service, upscale restaurant management. A passion for quality food and exceptional customer service is essential, alongside solid communication skills and basic accounting knowledge necessary to manage kitchen operations effectively. This position also requires possessing a food handler’s card where local and state regulations mandate it.

Working at Nordstrom means you are part of a company that takes care of its employees with access to comprehensive benefits such as medical, vision, dental, life insurance, disability coverage, a merchandise discount, retirement plans, paid time off, and employee assistance programs. The company is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, complying with legal requirements such as fair chance ordinances and background checks tailored to specific locations.

Joining the Nordstrom team as a Chef provides not just a job but a career opportunity where you can grow your culinary talents, develop management skills, and be part of a vibrant, customer-oriented culture dedicated to culinary excellence and outstanding service.
