Job Description
The Delta chapter of Tri Delta at Simpson College offers a unique culinary employment opportunity for a dedicated and talented Chef. Tri Delta is a well-established collegiate sorority committed to fostering a supportive and enriching environment for its members. Known for its strong values and commitment to community, Tri Delta provides an atmosphere that goes beyond the culinary experience, emphasizing kindness, inclusivity, and mutual respect. Sponsored by Simpson College, this chapter supports a vibrant community of 14 residents, 4 non-residents, and 1 House director, creating a tightly knit group who benefit from a premier living experience supported by exceptional meal services.
This role is positioned as a full-time, hourly, seasonal job, primarily focusing on the school semesters, which allows flexibility outside of university sessions. The Chef will be responsible for planning and preparing all meals served at the chapter facility, ensuring that the kitchen operates with the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and sanitation. Working onsite, the Chef will have the unique opportunity to directly contribute to the well-being and daily life quality of the chapter members by creating continental breakfasts, hot lunches, and dinners adapted to meet various dietary restrictions and preferences. The work schedule is structured around a 35-hour week typically from Monday through Thursday, 8 AM to 4 PM, and a shorter Friday shift from 8 AM to 12 PM with a midday break.
Beyond just food preparation, the candidate will manage large-scale meal planning and kitchen operations, requiring an adept understanding of culinary techniques and strong organizational skills. The role demands the ability to work independently with discretion, exercise sound judgment, and nurture positive relations among staff and residents. At Tri Delta, culinary excellence is coupled with a mission-driven culture and a supportive work environment where employees are valued and their diverse backgrounds celebrated. Tri Delta employees are encouraged to embody kindness, engage in teamwork, and uphold respect and inclusivity in every interaction.
Additional benefits of working for Tri Delta at Simpson College include paid vacation and holidays totaling 40 hours per semester, comprehensive health insurance including medical, dental, and vision coverage, retirement plans, and life insurance. The position reports directly to the House director and is ideal for experienced chefs who thrive in dynamic, community-focused roles and aspire to foster a positive, safe, and healthy kitchen environment. This role is perfect for culinary professionals passionate about creating exceptional dining experiences while positively impacting the lives of young college members in a respected sorority setting where their skills and dedication will be greatly valued and rewarded.
