Job Description

Legend Senior Living is a well-established family-owned business that has been dedicated to providing high-quality senior living experiences for over 30 years. Renowned for its commitment to excellence, Legend Senior Living continues to expand by adding multiple properties each year. The company has earned numerous accolades, including being certified as a Great Place To Work for eight consecutive years, receiving the Best of Senior Living Award, and recognition for its Innovative Programming in Senior Living. The community emphasizes holistic wellness, Gold Leaf Dining standards, and vibrant life enrichment activities, all designed to maximize the quality of life for its residents. Associates are supported through a variety of programs, including employee assistance, continuing education, and family member discounts, making it a rewarding and supportive workplace.

The Chef role at Legend Senior Living offers an outstanding opportunity to lead the culinary team in a community that values both culinary excellence and work-life balance. Unlike traditional kitchen roles, this position primarily involves daytime hours with no late-night shifts, catering to residents who prefer early dining. The Chef will be responsible for overseeing all culinary operations, which extends beyond food preparation to include menu planning, provisioning, safety compliance, and supervising both kitchen and dining room staff. This leadership role is vital in enhancing the Gold Leaf Dining experience, which is known for its high standards of atmosphere and food quality, ensuring that residents receive nutritious, delicious meals that meet dietary requirements and special requests.

As a Chef at Legend Senior Living, you will take charge of managing the department budget, inventory, and expense control. You will directly supervise all dietary staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling, creating a motivated and efficient team. Maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and organization in all food service areas is an essential part of the role, ensuring compliance with food service regulations. The Chef also serves as a friendly face interacting with residents daily, fostering strong relationships and contributing to an uplifting dining environment. This role offers additional responsibilities such as acting as Manager-On-Duty on a rotating basis and filling in for culinary staff as needed, providing variety and leadership opportunities within the team.

In addition to competitive compensation, the Chef benefits from a robust package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance for eligible associates, company-paid life insurance coverage, a 401(k) program with discretionary company match, and a generous paid time off policy. The company supports associate growth through annual performance evaluations and raises, scholarship programs, employee referral bonuses, and recognition awards such as Employee of the Month and Year. Legend Senior Living fosters a warm, inclusive work environment where associates are treated with respect and given every opportunity to thrive. Commitment to excellence and community makes this an ideal workplace for professionals seeking a satisfying career in culinary leadership within a compassionate senior living setting.
