Job Description

Holland Home is Michigan's leading nonprofit senior living and care organization, renowned for its dedication to excellence and compassion in serving older adults. Established with a mission to provide a full continuum of services ranging from independent living to skilled nursing care, Holland Home fosters an environment where residents can live with purpose, dignity, and comfort. The organization places a strong emphasis on personalized care, ensuring that each community member receives support tailored to their unique lifestyle and needs. Holland Home isn't just a place for seniors to live – it’s a vibrant community committed to promoting well-being, connection, and an enriched quality of life. The organization is also recognized as a meaningful place of employment where employees contribute to a mission that truly makes a difference in the lives of residents and their families.

The role of Chef at Holland Home is an opportunity for culinary professionals to make a tangible impact through their work by preparing high-quality meals for residents and staff in the Breton Woods community. This full-time position involves working 40 hours per week, primarily from Tuesday to Saturday between 9:30 am and 5:30 pm, with some schedule variation expected. The Chef will be responsible for preparing and cooking food with creativity and precision, using standardized recipes while adhering to regulatory requirements and food safety standards. The role requires the assurance that all food served meets the highest standards for temperature, quality, consistency, freshness, taste, and visual appeal.

Working as a Chef at Holland Home means contributing to a team environment where every meal serves not just nutritional needs but also comfort and community connections for seniors. Beyond culinary skills, the role demands attention to detail in food preparation, cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and accurate documentation such as food temperature logs and sanitation records. The Chef will complete advanced food prep as needed, monitor and record food temperatures, label food containers appropriately, and uphold resident rights in every aspect of their work. The position offers competitive pay based on experience, a flexible benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, a benefit credit increasing with years of service, and participation in a 403(b) retirement plan with employer match.

Candidates interested in this role should be passionate about food and service, capable of working both independently and as part of a team, and committed to maintaining the high standards that Holland Home embodies. Joining Holland Home as a Chef offers more than just a job – it is a chance to contribute meaningfully to a community where care and compassion are at the forefront of everything. Culinary professionals in this role become an essential part of enhancing residents' dining experiences and supporting the organization's mission to provide exceptional senior living and care.
