This role requires an experienced culinary professional who can support the Executive Chef and Kitchen Manager by managing daily meal preparation and ensuring adherence to quality standards. The Sous Chef will take responsibility for coordinating meals across all levels of care, managing inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining compliance with healthcare-approved menus. This position plays a key role in food safety, loss prevention, and departmental budget management. The candidate will be expected to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends, and must maintain ServSafe certification and participate in ongoing education and training programs. This role is ideal for someone with a culinary background, particularly those who have experience working in senior living or healthcare food service settings.\n\nCompensation for this hourly position ranges from $22.00 to $27.00 per hour, dependent on years of experience. The typical shift pattern is Monday through Friday during the day, with every other weekend worked, offering a predictable and balanced schedule. Job Requirements

  • associates degree in culinary arts program preferred
  • previous experience as a cook in a senior living community
  • successful completion of recognized food safety course
  • ServSafe Certification
  • previous experience in a fine dining preferred
  • ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
  • ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • ability to write routine reports and correspondence

Job Duties

  • assists in maintaining and enforcing policies and procedures of all meals of all levels of care
  • coordinates daily meal preparation adhering to quality standards and established time frames in the absence of the Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager or as directed
  • assists in ensuring that all mealtime deadlines are met in all levels of care
  • assists Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager in maintaining adequate and balanced food inventory
  • assists in developing appropriate goals and action plans to meet resident expectations
  • practice all safety and loss prevention procedures
  • assists in managing department expenses not to exceed budgetary guidelines
  • responsible for monthly inventory
  • order food and dining supplies in Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager’s absence
  • prepares schedule in Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager’s absence
  • adhere to approved healthcare menus
  • maintain ServSafe Training
  • attends all in services as required
  • understand the healthcare regulations
  • available to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends
  • other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
