Known for its commitment to quality, Legend Senior Living has garnered multiple accolades including being certified as a Great Place To Work for seven consecutive years as voted by its associates. The company is rapidly expanding, adding new properties each year, and has earned prestigious awards such as the Best of Senior Living Award and recognition for Innovative Programming in Senior Living. With a focus on holistic wellness, Legend Senior Living offers vibrant life enrichment activities along with the highest standards of quality in service, environment, and care. The organization fosters a supportive atmosphere for its associates through programs such as employee assistance, paid-time-off donations, continuing education, and family member discounts, ensuring a positive, growth-oriented workplace.
The role of Chef at Legend Senior Living is a pivotal leadership position within the culinary department. Unlike typical chef positions, this opportunity offers daytime hours with no late nights, emphasizing a strong work-life balance ideal for those seeking a fulfilling yet stable schedule. The Chef is responsible for overseeing all culinary operations which extend beyond food preparation and service. Key responsibilities include menu planning that addresses dietary requirements and special resident requests, budgeting and inventory management, as well as supervising the kitchen and dining room staff. This crucial leadership role ensures compliance with all food service standards and regulations through meticulous oversight of cooking, serving, storage, and preparation areas.
The Chef plays an essential role in maintaining and enhancing Legend's Gold Leaf Dining experience, which is known for its high standards in atmosphere and food quality. The position requires direct interaction with residents, ensuring a personalized dining experience that respects their needs and preferences. The culinary team, under the Chef's guidance, creates nutritious, diverse meal options in an environment that promotes safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. Additional duties include staff hiring, training, scheduling, and fulfilling roles such as Manager-On-Duty on a rotating basis or stepping in for other culinary staff as necessary.
This role offers not only a competitive salary but also comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision plans; company-paid life insurance; voluntary insurance options; 401(k) retirement savings with company match; paid time off; holiday pay; a scholarship program; and annual performance evaluations with raises. Bonus opportunities such as employee referrals, employee of the month/year recognition, and resident tours are also available. The Chef position is an excellent opportunity for those passionate about culinary excellence and senior care, who want to grow within a supportive and award-winning organization that values its staff and residents alike.
