With a rich commitment to providing exceptional care, Vernon Terrace offers residents a blend of elegant amenities and a welcoming, comfortable environment that fosters independence and well-being. The community caters to diverse needs by providing a full spectrum of services including Independent Living, Assisted Living, and specialized Memory Care. The vibrant atmosphere of Vernon Terrace is underpinned by a dedicated care team who embody Ebenezer’s mission to heal, discover, and educate, ensuring that every resident enjoys longer, healthier, and more meaningful lives. This commitment makes Vernon Terrace a sought-after destination for seniors and families seeking quality living and comprehensive care.
The role of Chef at Vernon Terrace is pivotal in upholding the community’s standard of excellence. This full-time position involves preparing and presenting meals that not only meet but exceed applicable food safety regulations and customer expectations. Working an 80-hour biweekly schedule with every other weekend and holiday rotation, the Chef plays a key role in ensuring consistent quality in meal preparation tailored to the nutritional needs of senior residents. This includes adherence to standardized recipes and nutritional guidelines, proper portioning, and special diet accommodations such as texturized diets following International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative (IDDSI) standards. Beyond just cooking, the Chef supervises kitchen staff, manages daily kitchen operations, and handles customer service in the absence of the supervisor. Maintaining a sanitary and clean kitchen environment is also a critical part of this role, requiring meticulous attention to cleaning schedules and the use of appropriate equipment and chemicals.
This position offers hourly compensation ranging between $21.84 and $30.83, reflective of individual skills, education, and experience. Vernon Terrace offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision plans, life insurance, disability insurance, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits, among others. The role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about culinary arts within a healthcare or senior living environment and are committed to enhancing the dining experience for a diverse senior population. This is a fantastic opportunity for motivated culinary professionals eager to make a positive impact in a supportive and mission-driven community.
