Currently, Legend Senior Living is seeking a talented and dedicated Chef to lead its culinary team. This daytime role offers a healthy work-life balance with no late-night shifts, catering to early dining preferences of their residents. The Chef will play a vital role in overseeing the culinary operations of the community, ensuring that high standards of food quality, safety, and service are met daily. This position involves more than just preparing meals; it requires menu planning, budget management, provisioning, and supervising the entire kitchen and dining staff. The Chef will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety of all kitchen and dining areas in compliance with food service regulations and company policies. As a key member of the team, the Chef will interact with residents regularly, delivering Gold Leaf Dining standards that enhance their dining experience.

The role includes supervisory duties such as hiring, training, scheduling, and motivating culinary personnel. The Chef must manage department expenses prudently while ensuring availability of nutritious and appealing meals, including those tailored to specific dietary needs or special requests. This leadership role may also involve serving as Manager-On-Duty on a rotating basis and stepping in to assist culinary staff when necessary. Job Requirements

  • Prefer two years experience cooking in a commercial kitchen
  • prefer experience supervising kitchen staff
  • prefer formal culinary training or associates degree in culinary arts or 5 years of culinary experience
  • required current food handling license as required by the state

Job Duties

  • Planning a variety of nutritious meals that meet dietary requirements including special requests
  • managing the department budget and expense management including inventory
  • directly supervising all dietary staff including hiring training scheduling etc
  • ensuring all cooking serving storage preparation and service areas are clean safe and organized to meet all applicable food service standards and regulations
  • ensuring quality food service in accordance with Legend’s Gold Leaf Dining standards including interacting with residents daily
  • fulfilling other roles as needed such as Manager-On-Duty on a rotating basis and filling in for culinary staff when needed
