Job Description
Bethesda Gardens, part of the Bethesda Senior Living Communities, is a compassionate and dedicated residential community that prioritizes the dignity, well-being, and personal tastes of its elderly residents. Known for providing excellent senior living services, Bethesda Gardens fosters a warm, supportive environment where each resident's unique needs are acknowledged and attended to with care and respect. Emphasizing a holistic approach to senior care, the community integrates health, nutrition, and social interaction to enhance the quality of life for its residents.
Within this nurturing community, Bethesda Gardens is currently seeking a part-time Chef to join their culinary team. This role is integral to the community’s commitment to delivering not only nutritious but also delicious and visually appealing meals that meet the specific dietary requirements and preferences of its senior residents. The Chef position involves preparing meals based on established menus and recipes, with flexibility to assist in menu development tailored to accommodate various dietary restrictions such as diabetic, low fat, or salt-free diets. The work shifts are available during the day, evening, and on weekends, offering flexible scheduling to suit part-time employment needs.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent cooking and baking skills, showing a genuine passion for serving the senior community and a compassionate attitude towards elderly care. Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment is a critical component of the role, as is ensuring the proper sanitation and safety protocols are adhered to. The Chef will work closely with the Culinary Services Director to ensure that the culinary operations run smoothly and that residents receive meals that are both enjoyable and nutritionally appropriate. This role requires someone who can manage time effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment, maintain confidentiality and protect residents' rights, and contribute positively to the community's atmosphere.
Bethesda Gardens offers competitive wages and a variety of benefits, especially for full-time employees, including medical insurance options like HDHP or PPO plans, vision, dental, life insurance, matching Health Savings Accounts, flexible spending accounts, company-matched 403(b) plans, paid vacation, personal, sick and holiday leave, a paid volunteer program, an Employee Assistance Program, and wages on demand. These benefits aim to support not only the health and financial well-being of the employees but also their personal development and work-life balance.
This part-time Chef position does not carry managerial duties but requires the ability to work independently, maintain a professional appearance, and provide outstanding customer service to residents and their families. Physical demands include the ability to lift and carry weights up to 50 pounds, endure long periods of standing, and perform a range of kitchen tasks such as stirring, cutting, and cleaning. Serving the senior community at Bethesda Gardens means embodying a servant heart and following the mission statement of Bethesda Senior Living Communities, ensuring that every meal served is part of a broader commitment to enhancing the lives of seniors through compassionate care and excellent service.
