The Pillars of Hermantown is a premier managed senior living community developed by Ebenezer, located in the scenic region near Duluth in northern Minnesota. This job opportunity is for the position of Cook/Chef within the Assisted Living team at the Pillars of Hermantown. The role is vital in ensuring the culinary needs of residents are met with high-quality meals prepared under standardized recipes that reflect the community's commitment to exceptional care. The Cook/Chef will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals to meet established culinary standards and presenting food with appealing plating to encourage residents' appetites and overall satisfaction. The position accommodates a casual work schedule, including days and early evenings, with the expectation of working every other weekend and assisting with last-minute or planned culinary service needs. The culinary professional in this role will not only contribute to day-to-day meal preparation but will also support special events, maintain food safety standards, clean and sanitize work areas, and assist with supervising and training culinary staff under the guidance of the Culinary Director. This multifaceted position requires a dedicated individual who thrives in a collaborative team environment and is passionate about enhancing senior living through quality nutrition and excellent food service. Job Requirements

  • 0 - 1 year experience
  • Must be 18+ years old
  • MN Food Safety- Sanitation Certification within 90 days or Certified Food Protection Manager issued by the State of Minnesota within 90 days

Job Qualifications

  • 0 - 1 year experience
  • Must be 18+ years old
  • MN Food Safety- Sanitation Certification within 90 days or Certified Food Protection Manager issued by the State of Minnesota within 90 days
  • Vocational school technical training or associate degree - Food Service preferred
  • 1 - 3 years experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of basic Microsoft applications preferred

Job Duties

  • Handles and prepares food in a safe manner following policies and infection control and safety standards
  • Ensure timely production and meal service is provided to residents
  • Set up line service
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and work area after each use
  • Assists with special events
  • Assists Culinary Director with supervision and training of culinary staff
  • Performs other duties as assigned and directed
