The Chef position at Pelham Civic Complex is a leadership role critical to the success of the venue's food and beverage operations. This role involves comprehensive management of food services, assuring the highest standards in food quality, guest service, and sanitation across all food and beverage areas within this multi-faceted facility. These areas include all kitchens, concessions, VIP suites, party decks, conference centers, premium bars, kiosks, as well as artist, crew, or team catering. The Chef will coordinate hiring, scheduling, and training for all food service employees, overseeing food preparation and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and VenuWorks' sanitation policies.
The Chef is tasked with planning and directing kitchen administration functions, food production, menu development, and pricing strategies to ensure operations meet the venue's budgetary and guest experience goals. The successful candidate will bring a blend of culinary skill, business acumen, and leadership prowess to maintain consistent food quality and presentation at all events. With responsibility for controlling food and labor costs, managing vendor relationships, and maximizing product availability while minimizing waste, the Chef provides strategic oversight and hands-on management that drives operational efficiency and profitability.
In this role, the Chef will foster a positive work environment centered on motivation, teamwork, and a commitment to quality. They will develop training programs adhering to health and safety regulations, including HACCP and ServSafe standards, ensuring compliance and operational excellence. The role requires flexibility in working hours, including the ability to support event needs during evenings, weekends, and holidays. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Chef will supervise kitchen staff, including cooks and sous chefs, while collaborating closely with sales and event planning teams to customize menus and culinary experiences that align with sales and customer satisfaction goals.

Job Requirements
- Must be able to work varied hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Current valid driver’s license
- Access to a working home telephone for business contact
- Must have or be able to obtain required food production management certifications
- ServSafe certification or ability to obtain within six months
- Ability to meet physical demands of lifting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to maintain safe and sanitary food preparation environment
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Job Qualifications
- Culinary degree preferred but not mandatory
- Minimum three years of facility or culinary management experience in high-volume food service
- Experience in computer networks, Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and electronically
- Skilled in reading and interpreting business and technical documents
- Ability to write reports and correspondence
- Capability to present information clearly to groups
- Strong mathematical and inventory control skills
