Job Description

Boca Recovery Center is a nationally recognized leader in behavioral health treatment, operating locations across Florida, New Jersey, Indiana, and soon Massachusetts. Known for its commitment to holistic and whole-person care, the center focuses on providing a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment to individuals on their journey to recovery from mental health and substance use disorders. The Bloomington facility, part of this larger network, emphasizes mental health services and integrates various supports to optimize client wellness and rehabilitation outcomes. Central to this comprehensive care approach is the provision of nutritious, appealing meals tailored to meet the unique dietary needs of residents, supporting their physical health alongside mental and emotional healing.

The Chef role at Boca Recovery Center's Bloomington facility is a crucial position within the Operations and Dietary Services department, reporting directly to the Facility Director. This full-time, hourly role entails working 36 hours per week, scheduled from Sunday through Wednesday, with Sunday to Tuesday as full working days and a half-day on Wednesday. The compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience and certification, reflecting the specialized nature of this kitchen leadership position. The Chef will oversee all kitchen operations to ensure the delivery of balanced, high-quality meals that align with therapeutic and dietary requirements of the residents.

This role requires not only excellent culinary skills but also a trauma-informed perspective that recognizes the importance of food as a part of emotional and physical recovery. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with clinical and operational teams to accommodate special dietary needs and therapeutic food requests, ensuring inclusivity and nutritional adequacy. Responsibilities span meal planning, food preparation, inventory management, sanitation, regulatory compliance, and maintaining a calm, professional kitchen atmosphere suitable for a residential treatment setting. Through these comprehensive duties, the Chef plays an integral role in supporting residents’ overall health, comfort, and successful recovery outcomes at the Boca Recovery Center in Bloomington.

Job Requirements

  • Current Food Protection Manager Certification through ServSafe
  • minimum of 2 years experience in a kitchen or food service setting
  • knowledge of special dietary accommodations and food allergy protocols
  • strong organizational and time management skills
  • ability to work independently and maintain a clean, efficient kitchen environment
  • passion for supporting individuals in recovery and mental health care

Job Duties

  • Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals in accordance with client dietary needs and facility schedules
