Job Description

Bristol Farms is a premier grocery market chain that has been a beloved staple in the California region since its inception in Rolling Hills. Renowned for its dedication to delivering the highest quality and freshest products, Bristol Farms has cultivated a passionate community of food enthusiasts who delight in exploring diverse and exotic ingredients. The company prides itself on sourcing locally when possible, ensuring that every item on the shelves—from meat and seafood to produce and specialty groceries—is of exceptional quality.

Bristol Farms is more than just a grocery store; it is a destination where culinary adventures begin, offering an extraordinary experience that combines high-end products with outstanding customer service. Their team members are pivotal in creating this vibrant and inviting atmosphere. The company fosters a culture of teamwork, entrepreneurship, and mutual respect, encouraging employees to be authentic, positive, and proactive in every interaction. Whether serving a regular customer or a first-time visitor, Bristol Farms staff are committed to exceeding expectations and making every shopping experience memorable.

The role of Cheese Clerk within Bristol Farms is a unique opportunity to engage with a diverse clientele and bring expertise in cheese to the forefront of the customer experience. This position is based at the Beverly West location in West Hollywood, California. The Cheese Clerk works closely under the supervision of the Cheese Manager within the Cheese Department. This is a nonexempt, hourly position with a hiring pay range between $20.25 and $22.00 per hour.

As a Cheese Clerk, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting cheese products with precision and care. Your duties involve weighing, packaging, slicing, filling, and stocking cheese items, ensuring that all goods are fresh and properly labeled with accurate code dates. You will interact directly with customers, listening attentively to their requests, offering knowledgeable recommendations, and providing samples to enhance their shopping experience. Proper handling and use of slicing equipment is essential to this role, along with maintaining strict controls to minimize product shrinkage and theft.

Beyond technical responsibilities, the Cheese Clerk plays a critical role in the visual merchandising of the cheese department—setting up attractive displays that promote sales and draw customer interest. This position also requires occasional communication by telephone to take orders, demonstrating the importance of effective communication skills. The position demands physical stamina due to frequent standing, walking, lifting, and handling of products up to 100 pounds.

This role is perfect for someone who embodies a genuine love for food, especially cheese, and who thrives in a fast-paced yet collaborative retail environment. A successful candidate will possess a warm, outgoing personality, a positive attitude, and a commitment to customer service excellence. Bristol Farms offers a strong training program to help you grow career-wise, a values-driven culture, and opportunities for advancement within its family of brands. Moreover, employees enjoy a range of benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, and 401K, as well as employee discounts, scholarship opportunities, and more.

If you want to be part of a dynamic team committed to delivering quality and hospitality, and if you pride yourself on your ability to connect with customers and create an exceptional shopping experience, then the Cheese Clerk position at Bristol Farms is an excellent choice to advance your career in food retail.
