The Check-In Receptionist role at this orthopedic practice is pivotal to the overall functioning and patient satisfaction of the facility. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of patient registration and check-in processes, which are crucial first steps in the patient’s healthcare journey. The individual in this role will greet patients and visitors with a professional and welcoming demeanor, providing necessary information and directions to ensure a smooth visit. In addition to patient interaction, the Check-In Receptionist will verify insurance benefits, obtain necessary referrals, collect copays and payments, and manage scheduling tasks. Coordination with clinical staff is a key part of this role to facilitate timely patient care and minimize delays. The receptionist is also responsible for maintaining the reception area’s cleanliness and assisting patients with electronic kiosks. A notable aspect of the application process for this role includes completing the Predictive Index Assessment to evaluate the candidate's behavioral and motivational fit.

Job Duties

  • Complete patient registration and check in process, verifying insurance benefits
  • obtain necessary referrals
  • collect and post patient copays and payments
  • facilitate patient flow by notifying the provider of patients' arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff
  • schedule appointments
  • assist patients as necessary including contacting appropriate parties for transportation
  • manage payment batches and submit daily balance sheets
  • maintain reception area in a neat and orderly condition
