The CHB Operations Associate role at Maersk offers a pivotal opportunity to contribute directly to the seamless and compliant movement of imported shipments. Serving as a vital link between customers, carriers, government agencies, and internal teams, the associate manages end-to-end customs brokerage operations for a dedicated portfolio of accounts. As a CHB Operations Associate, you are responsible for the preparation and processing of U.S. Customs entries and Partner Government Agency filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements. You will coordinate with various stakeholders such as freight forwarders, carriers, and container freight stations to facilitate the timely clearance and delivery of shipments. You serve as a trusted point of contact for customers, providing accurate and timely updates and handling queries effectively.

Success in this role is measured by your ability to process shipments within defined KPIs, maintain data integrity, comply with government regulations, and communicate proactively with both internal teams and external customers. You will help uphold Maersk’s high standards for customer experience, operational efficiency, compliance, and technology adoption. Your contribution supports the company’s goals of enhancing service quality, improving process maturity, and driving digital transformation within customs brokerage operations.

This full-time position offers a competitive starting salary range of $56,000 to $60,000 and provides health insurance, paid time off, and 401k match benefits. Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of CHB
  • 6-12 months of experience in the industry
  • Knowledge of Section 232 IEEPA tariff structure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate confidently
  • Persistently drives issues to closure
  • Well organized, detail oriented especially when working under pressure
  • Works together with others in the business unit to achieve results, fosters teamwork
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required or equivalent work experience
  • Customs House Brokerage License preferred but not required

Job Qualifications

  • 6-12 months of customs brokerage or related industry experience
  • At least 2 years in a CHB or operational support environment preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working under pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-focused mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Customs House Broker License preferred but not required

Job Duties

  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for customers, responding to questions and providing timely, accurate shipment updates
  • Prepare and process U.S. Customs entries and Partner Government Agency filings, ensuring full regulatory compliance
  • Open and manage entry files in alignment with defined KPIs and service standards
  • Coordinate shipment clearance with freight forwarders, steamship lines, airlines, and container freight stations to ensure timely release
  • Track and trace inbound shipments from port or airport through final delivery
  • Ensure all required documentation and entry packages are accurately uploaded into operating systems
  • Complete customer billing, delivery orders, and required operational reports
