This dynamic hospitality company proudly operates a diverse portfolio of over 1000 owned, managed, and franchised properties across eight countries, offering an epic blend of full-service and focused hotels in major cities globally. Sonesta is committed to delivering quality, value, and exceptional hospitality with a human touch, striving to create memorable guest experiences that deeply connect with each visitor. The company's core philosophy revolves around passionate service, loyalty grounded in purpose, and a culture where every team member contributes to thriving together. This expansive network and focus on diversity make Sonesta a distinct leader in the hospitality industry, continuously evolving to meet the needs of travelers worldwide.
The Barback position at Sonesta International Hotels is a key supporting role within the food and beverage department, vital to ensuring smooth and efficient bar operations. As a Barback, the individual will be responsible for preparing and servicing both permanent and portable bar setups throughout the hotel. The role requires thorough attention to detail to maintain bar and lounge equipment and ensure supplies are fully stocked and in excellent condition during all hours of operation. This involves retrieving and verifying stock, preparing garnishes and juices, stocking supplies like glassware, ice, and condiments, and assisting bartenders with inventory management. The Barback will also handle tasks such as transporting and maintaining beer kegs, cleaning the bar area and storage spaces, and actively communicating with bartenders and wait staff to maintain high levels of guest satisfaction.
The Barback plays a pivotal role in supporting the guest experience by ensuring that the bar operates efficiently and remains well-organized, clean, and adequately supplied. This position requires a discreet and professional demeanor, with employees encouraged to engage with guests in a respectful manner while also participating in hotel promotions and adhering to company policies. Apart from the technical tasks, the Barback will deliver passionate and engaging service that aligns with the hotel’s GUEST model—greeting guests warmly, anticipating needs, resolving requests or complaints, and building relationships with both guests and colleagues alike.
Ideal candidates for the Barback role should possess 1-2 years of bar or related work experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to handle physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds and moving around public areas. Fluency in English and a strong customer service mindset are essential. The position offers a starting pay of $13.75 per hour plus tips, with compensation varying based on experience and knowledge. Sonesta International Hotels promotes inclusivity and equal opportunity, providing comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans with company match, paid time off, educational assistance, and various employee discounts. Working as a Barback at Sonesta is not only a job but a chance to be part of a vibrant, expanding hospitality leader committed to its employees’ growth and guest satisfaction.
