The role of a Cashier at Grand Sierra Resort plays a critical part in the overall guest experience by ensuring smooth financial transactions and supporting operational efficiency in the food and beverage department alongside the restaurant staff. The Cashier is responsible for greeting and seating guests warmly, managing reservations and waitlists effectively, and handling guest inquiries with professionalism and politeness. This position requires coordinating payment processing, including cash, credit card, room charges, and complimentary slips, while maintaining accuracy in handling all monetary transactions. Beyond transactional duties, the Cashier also collaborates with the support team to expedite table turnarounds by resetting tables quickly and efficiently and manages to-go orders with care for accuracy and detail. The role demands strict adherence to the resort’s guest service guidelines and safety standards, including sanitation regulations, to uphold a safe and healthy work environment. Flexibility in scheduling is expected, with shifts covering nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.

A successful candidate will be tactful and respectful when interacting with guests and team members, possess basic reading, math, and writing skills, and demonstrate problem-solving ability alongside independent judgment. Prior experience in cashiering or related customer service positions is preferred, though a combination of education, training, or experience providing the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered. The physical demands of the position include constant standing, frequent walking and balancing, and occasional bending, with some lifting or carrying of up to 10 pounds. Team members should be prepared to work in an indoor environment with moderate noise and exposure to occasional fumes or slippery surfaces. Job Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
  • previous cashiering experience is preferred or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • ability of simple reading, math, writing and task completion skills
  • capability to stand for long periods, walk frequently, balance, and occasionally bend
  • ability to occasionally lift, carry and push/pull up to 10lbs
  • constant use of vision abilities including distance, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision
  • flexibility to work shifts including holidays, nights, and weekends as business needs dictate
  • ability to deal with guests and team members in a tactful and respectful manner

Job Duties

  • Greeting and seat guests by utilizing department greeting and steps of service
  • manage reservations including calling and confirming upcoming reservations
  • manage waitlist by providing accurate wait time estimates
  • address guest inquiries
  • receive payment from guests in the form of cash, credit cards, and room charges and comp slips
  • make changes as needed, verify validity of charges, record charges and ensure vouchers are properly executed to accurately balance all monetary transactions
  • make deposits/cash drops, complete appropriate cashier paperwork/reports, balance and secure bank
  • interact with team members and guests in a professional and polite manner including complaints and concerns are effectively handled
  • communicate special requests with management, service staff, and culinary team
  • assist the support team to turn tables faster by resetting them quickly and efficiently
  • take to-go orders and ensure the orders are packed with the required condiments
  • support and maintain Grand Sierra Resort guest service guidelines and other policies and procedures
  • help maintain safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations
  • any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position
