This role demands advanced technical knowledge and the ability to handle complex procedures, including assisting in patient examinations, diagnostic studies, treatment, and dressing changes. The Sr. MA also undertakes administrative responsibilities such as scheduling appointments, ensuring medical necessity compliance, and verifying patient eligibility for care, all while adhering to stringent regulations like CLIA, HIPAA, and NCQA. This position acts as both a clinical resource and preceptor, guiding, training, and mentoring other Medical Assistants to elevate overall service quality within the clinic. Working hours vary between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. during weekdays, with no nights or weekends required. The role is designated as non-exempt, highlighting its eligibility for overtime pay.\n\nThe Sr. MA position is designed for candidates with a significant background in medical assisting, particularly those experienced in managing chronic diseases or who have worked within specialty disciplines. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline
  • Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA or Registered Medical Assistant or EMT
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English
  • Proficiency in computer documentation
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Maintain required certifications and complete ongoing training
  • Ability to safely perform assigned job tasks and follow safety protocols

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline
  • Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA or Registered Medical Assistant or EMT
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association
  • Demonstrate proficiency in English speaking, reading, and writing
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of medical practice, equipment, and instruments
  • Proficient computer skills for documentation
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Demonstrate advanced assessment competences appropriate for level of practice

Job Duties

  • Assist with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment, and dressing changes
  • Perform general administrative duties in accordance with CLIA, HIPAA, NCQA and government standards
  • Schedule patient appointments and ensure medical necessity compliance
  • Verify patient eligibility for care
  • Serve as preceptor and clinical resource, training and orienting other Medical Assistants
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers
  • Maintain accurate medical records and clinical quality assurance
